Default Dual PaH Monk Hero Set-Up

Hi there

I know that monks aren't very popular anymore for heroes (compared to necros), but I've been using Sabway, Racway, Discordway on my paragon (imbagon) and I seem to have problems in HM. So for a while I've tried playing around with monks and trying to counter all aspects to enemies in HM.

So I've made up a couple builds (not tested yet) for two monks to use in a full party that would probably replace any henchman monks that you would normally use. I'm still thinking of a third hero but I would probably use a Rt/N SoS/MM bomber.

Hero #1: Mo/Me PaH Prot Monk
Attributes: Divine Favor: 12+1 +1
Protection Prayers: 10+1
Inspiration Magic: 8

Equipment: 40/40 for Divine Favor or a +20 staff
Radiant or Survivor, depends on if there is energy problems

This guy is supposed to prevent pressure and spikes from occurring, pretty straightforward. If there aren't any energy problems, then i may post up the /Rt variant I have in mind.

Hero #2: Mo/Me PaH Healing Monk
Attributes: Divine Favor: 10+1
Healing Prayers: 12+1+1
Inspiration Magic: 8

Equipment: 40/40 for Divine Favor or a +20 staff
Survivor or Radiant, again if there are energy problems

Again, Anti-pressure and spikes. Also with this build, I am going to assume this will have energy problems, but if not I do have a /Rt variant with this as well.

Hero #3: Up for discussion, however I will probably use this:
Rt/N SoS/MM bomber/Support
Attributes: Channeling Magic: 12+1+1
Spawning Power: 9+1
Death Magic: 9

Equipment: 40/40 for death or channeling, your choice, or a +20 staff

Standard SoS Support/MM bomber blah blah blah.

So there it is, if you have suggestions or whatnot, do post as everything posted in this thread will hopefully make this a good build.

Thanks =D

EDIT: Ok so I've gotten some feedback which all of it is really helpful so I'll try and tweak the monks skills around. My reasoning behind 2 PaH monks is that the recharge for the spell isn't exactly low, my theory was that there would be a constant anti-pressure going on. But after looking at other elites I'm probably going to change the builds around to see what I can do. I'll also test the builds in a HM dungeon first before I post them. I think what I'll do is one RC monk and one full healer (oh and thanks for the suggestions =D ).

EDIT#2: OK there are the tweaks. I tried the first level of vloxen on HM and was fine (forgot to take screen but I'll do the full dungeon and post a screenie =D).

I really don't understand your thinking behind 2 PnH Monks. Ok if you're going to be heading into hex heavy areas then maybe 1 PnH but in PvE theres really no need to bring so much removal other than maybe Cure/Remove/Veil.

Also, when you were running Discord/Sabway, what henchmen did you use? Maybe lack of heals/prots there was why you failed?

If you really insist on taking 2 hero monks then I suggest you try 1 full prot and 1 full heal.

Heal monk should be either Healer's Boon or Word of Healing, with Dwayna's Kiss, Patient Spirit, Cure Hex and PDrain/Leech Sig for e-management.

Bring Mend Aliment as optional slot if not using With a Life Sheath hero.

Prot monk could be PnH if there is a lot of hexes otherwise I'd go with Life Sheath.

Your optional slots could be Heavens Delight+Deny Hexes or Shielding Hands with more E-management.

Channeling is not the best thing you can take unless you want to flag your heroes in the mob.

Resurrect is just one of the worst rez skills, better put a rez on yourself and the rit and remove it from the monks so you can give them both pdrain and leech signet instead of resurrect and channeling.

Double pnh is in my opinion overkill don't get me wrong i kove the skill but 2 is just too much. I would say take one pnh with deny hexes and maybe make the healer take ua.

But if it works it works so just try it out in HM and you will know what to do.

edit. Oops you allready had pdrain. well on one of the pnh you could put deny hexes instead of resurrect.

If your worried about hexes leave the PnH. But LS or RC is better for conditions. Is there really a situation where you need 2 PnH's? PnH + Deny Hexes or Convert Hexes off monk should be plenty.

Also how did u struggle with discord, sab and racway? Especially with yourself as an imba. I have to say your doing something wrong...

I use Dunkoro as an HB monk. I give him two energy-gaining inspiration interupts and set him to "guard." I DO NOT put a rez on his bar. When asked by pugs to put a rez on his bar, I say, "No, lad... Dunk is here to keep you alive."

With that setup, Dunkoro almost never has energy trouble. In fact, he is often full of energy directly after a fight ends. He also contributes some nice AI-timed interupts. He is the most effective hero I've used in a long time, if you forgive the heroes-always-kite AI. I usually have a snare in my build to make that less of an issue.

That takes nothing away from discord, sab and racway. Those are all good concepts.

You could take a MM with convert hexes, with his superb energy mangement you'll be hex free every 12 seconds. If you're still not satisfied, put some hex removal on a SoS rit (remove hex smite hex). With that set up you don't have to waste hero slots to healers.
